So Avery has a new hearing specialist. The State decided to shuffle the ladies around to try and save gas (so they are sending Peggy from Willard) :) Peggy and I met last Thursday to make new goals for Avery. The goals that Mindy and I had set were before Avery had her hearing test and hearing aids, so they were kind of irrelevant now. Anyway Avery's goals are (1) locate the source of sounds, (2) use consonants, and (3) communicate her needs with either signs or sounds (food, sleep, more, etc).
Her progress is: (1) she says aaaaaa (as in cat), (2) she turns and locates almost all sounds, and (3) she signs food and bye. We are still waiting for her to decide it is time to crawl. She is capable but stubborn. She would prefer to roll or to walk by holding on to your fingers. She is SO funny, she has learned how to navigate around objects. She either rolls and sits up to spin around and roll in a different direction or she will crawl less than a foot to get around an object and then roll past it.

Katya did that, too. Then, she crawled on hands and knees for probably a week, and then she gave that up and bear crawls (on her hands and feet) everywhere.
I really am glad that Avery is progressing so well. That is wonderful.
